Breaking News – Apple iPad Will Be Delayed!

by Ernie Varitimos on March 1, 2010

if you still don't get it you may want to go look up the definition of delayed.
  • If it's delayed for a large number of people then it's a delay.
  • Kara
You are wrong. Apple PR told Wired magazine via phone that the launch is on schedule for late March.
    http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/03/analyst-ipad/

"Update, 11 a.m. PDT: An Apple spokeswoman told Wired.com on the phone that the “iPad will be available in late March.”
  • Apple did not say that there wouldn't be a smaller supply, they only said that the late March introduction is on schedule. They did not rebuke the claim that they would have only far fewer units than first planned, nor did they comment on a limited introduction to the US. If that is in fact the case, then the iPad will be delayed for many, many people.
  • So, wired is confirming what I said, that supplies will be short. Same as being delayed for 2/3 of those that would have expected delivery. Apple had originally planned to deliver 1 million at launch but will only be able to deliver 300K. I would call that a delay for 700K people!

Apple did not say or confirm any of what you stated. You are taking one analysts "guesses" as fact, that sort of action will get you into trouble. Did you not even bother to read the link I posted?? That particular analyst has been noted as floating numerous false rumors in the past. Nowhere, NOWHERE has APPLE PR said there is any sort of production issue or any delay. The only thing Apple PR has said is that they are on schedule to release the iPad in late March as planned! Irregardless of quantity immediately available there is no delay. Every product released by Apple has had high initial demand, this will be no different.
  • Apple never confirms early reports until they feel they must. They are controlling the conversation. Just because they are not yet confirming a part shortage does not mean one does not exist.

I don't have a camara in my IPod and can't quite figure out what you would do other then video conferncing with one in an Ipad. So that's no issue for me. But I'll beleive there's a delay when Apple says there is one and not before.

For all we know some blogger wanted to get more hits to his site and figured am IPad rumor was the answer to his dreams.
  • My iPhone camera is an absolute must. And now that I can do video with it, using the Qik app, it's even better. The iPad is a natural for a camera, whether it be for video conferencing or simply taking snap shots. Either way, it's a must have in my opinion.

I don't get using an Ipad as a camra it's to big you would look
foolish taking pictures with it in my opinion.

Video conferncing on the other hand is a natural use for it. I just
don't need to do video conferencing.

  • I think it will only add to the frenzy and make people want it more. Sure everyone will bitch and moan and say their not going to buy it now because they're pissed off..... all because they can't wait to get one and now you'll have to wait longer. Just tell an American they can't have something and watch them start foaming at the mouth!
  • Yes, I agree, people will want it even more. All the more reason to try and be an early adopter and then sell it on Craig's List for twice the price.

Hmmm, maybe they noticed that hole in the frame and said, whoops! we forgot to order the camera. More likely of course is that one of the 20 or so suppliers is on the hot seat (or worse yet, the software developers) for quality/reliability issues. This allows them to generate the mental illusion that it is now even more desirable. Gotta have it now!
  • I'd really like to see that camera in there before I plunk down 5 bills.
