My name is Ernie Varitimos, also known as the AppleInvestor on Twitter. I’m the person behind the TwitLinker blog and the Zen Tweeter blog. I write about Apple, Investing and my various life pursuits. And those are, in no particular order, Internet technologies, Investing, Zen Practice, Martha’s Vineyard, Playing Pool and Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I’m a huge fan of Apple, its products and philosophy, been using Macintosh since the day after it was introduced in 1984. I have seven Macs running in our home, and we all have 3G iPhones.
I’m a 48 year old, life long New Englander, living about 25 miles south of Boston Massachusetts. I’m the father of two teenage girls, who provide my wife and I with continuous character building experiences. We live in the middle of Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary on 5 acres of wooded bliss. We share our home with three cats and Gyasi the Rhodesian Ridgeback.
My favorite place on Earth is Martha’s Vineyard. The wife and I have been vacationing there for the past 18 years. We’ve often talked about moving there, but living on an island full time just wouldn’t work for us, and besides we don’t enjoy the winters all that much. So, when the kids finish with school, we’ll probably by a second home somewhere warm like Florida, and rent a home on the Vineyard for the summer.

Professional Experience
I make my living as a technology consultant, providing strategic and technical guidance to large companies. But I’d rather write for a living, and blogging is the path I’ve chosen to realize that goal. I have been writing about investing and social networking for a little under a year.
I have 30 years experience in a wide variety of industries, including; finance, communications, health care, defense, manufacturing, marketing, retail, technology, and much more. These days I consult for one of the worlds largest utilities as an applications architect for their energy conservation program. Need help with your Internet project? Then contact me, I can help with just about anything. I’ve had a hand on developing some of the largest Internet sites in the world, and have led dozens of major projects for Fortune Fives, to mom and pop startups.
Zen Principles
This is the Zen Tweeter, so you’ve got to assume that Zen plays a pretty important part in what I write about and how I conduct my life. Well, you’re right! As far as what I write about, this post explains how I believe Zen plays a part in this blog and Twitter.
You see, Zen is about awakening the mind through practices like ethical behavior, helping others, and meditation. Besides traditional meditation, I like to do things that are Zen, like balancing rocks. And during the summer, while I’m on the Vineyard, the wife and I take a walk every morning, with Gyasi the Ridgeback, along Makonikey Head and search for sea glass. When we get to Split Rock, I stop and see how many rocks I can toss into the crack of Split Rock. Very Zen!
