Let’s preface this discovery with Brian White’s performance as an analyst. According to Philip Elmer-DeWitt of the Apple 2.0 blog, Mr. White ranks near the bottom of Philip’s most recent analysts survey, 37th out of 40.
Apple fans have been talking about an Apple TV seems like forever, well now it appears we’ll see it later this year. In order for it to be a game changer, it has to redefine what a TV is all about. Reported the iTV should cost somewhere between $1,500 and $2,500 that’s a lot of clams! What makes it special is a new way to interact with the TV using gestures with the aid of a ring, and possibly the rumored Apple Watch (iWatch?).
The other rumor is that the iTV will be able to stream content to smaller, mini-iTVs. It’s not so clear how this will work, or if these mini iTVs are actually mini Apple TVs. Of course this is all speculation, but Mr. White discovered this while visiting Chinese and Taiwanese companies that supply Apple components.
Topeka Capital analyst Brian White reported that conversations with Asian component suppliers lead him to believe Apple will release a 60-inch television set later this year. White reported that the “iTV” will be sold with multiple mobile components — an “iRing” that allows the user to control the set by pointing, and iPad-like “mini-iTVs” that can receive streams from the main appliance.
