If you’re familiar with any technology trade rag out there, tech podcasts, MarketWatch, CNBC, Adam Curry’s Mevio.com, Leo LePorte’s TWIT, Adrew Horowitz Unplugged, then you can’t escape knowing who John C. Dvorak is. But in case you don’t know, he’s possibly the most prolific, prodigious, prognosticator of technology in the world. And commands the eyes and ears of at least 1.25 million people a week.
If you’re a long-time Apple and Mac user, then you know back in the day, John was the ultimate Macintosh antagonist and critic, when he was editor of Info World and PC Magazine.
Well, in any case, John and I have become friends over the past few months, and we’ve been talking about launching a news aggregator (online Newspaper) to compete with the big boys, like the NY Times and others. We would simply syndicate many of the best news sources and bloggers around the net and produce different versions of online Newspapers for various demographics. So, it will be a combination of exclusive and syndicated content.
By the way, if you think you have the skill and experience, and you want to write for this publication, let me know.
I have created a prototype, that is focused on investing in Apple and related technology companies. It’s raw, and I still don’t have some of the back end worked out, that’s why you won’t see much graphics, but it’s a start.
The prototype website is The Apple Investor. The next version will be more general technology focus, and it will be called techgatr.com, I’ve already reserved the domains for every variation of techgatr, and have a dedicated server being provisioned as we speak.
So, I would appreciate it if you would send me your thoughts, opinions, criticisms, whatever moves you about this idea. You can send them to ernie@apple-investor.com. Please don’t spread this around the net, as we’ll be conducting a PR campaign in the near future. I’ll keep you informed. Thank you, in advance!
